A Lasting Legacy for Lincoln County Entrepreneurs
In Lincoln County, the spirit of support for small businesses remains alive and well thanks to a new initiative set forth by the Oregon Coast Community College (OCCC) Foundation. The recently established Ron Spisso Lighthouse Fund for Small Business Success honors the memory of Ron Spisso, a longtime small business management coordinator who dedicated 25 years to guiding local entrepreneurs as part of OCCC’s Small Business Development Center.
Since his arrival from New Jersey in 1991, Spisso has been a beacon of hope and resources for small business owners across the region. Even after he passed away in 2023, the impact of his work continues to resonate deeply within the community. Dave Price, vice president of engagement at OCCC, recounts how Spisso's warm approach enabled many to confidently pursue their business ambitions. "Whether coaching a startup through its first business plan or helping seasoned shop owners expand, Ron brought patience and insight to every interaction," Price noted.
Empowering Future Generations of Entrepreneurs
The Ron Spisso Lighthouse Fund aims to carry forward Spisso's tradition of mentorship by offering essential financial support to budding entrepreneurs. Contributions to the fund will assist with vital costs such as certification courses and licensing fees, enabling business owners to take crucial next steps in their journey. According to Price, this fund encapsulates what Spisso did best — empowering individuals to achieve their dreams. "He gave clients the tools and the confidence to move forward," he added.
How You Can Contribute to the Fund
